North Carolina has a rich history of Black-owned businesses. In celebration of Black History Month, NCEOC selected a few stories that tell the history of prominent Black business districts in four of the North Carolina’s major cities.
NCEOC’s mission is to spread the word about employee ownership as an economic development tool to help retain and build resiliency in our business community. In 2020, NCEOC partnered with the City of Durham and the Democracy at Work Institute to share information to BIPOC-led businesses about succession planning. Check out the Basics for Business guide made for that project.
