NCEOC Celebrates Employee-Owned Businesses at Annual Celebration

At the North Carolina Employee Ownership Center (NCEOC), we pride ourselves on providing educational tools and resources for hands-on learning about employee-owned businesses and their economic advantages. Nowhere was this more evident than at our annual Employee Ownership Celebration!

Recently held on October 16 at the O’Henry hotel (100% employee owned), the event brought together business leaders, existing employee owned companies, those looking to convert to employee ownership, advocates, and community members dedicated to advancing worker ownership. Let’s take a look at what the event entailed, in case you missed out.

About Our Employee Ownership Celebration

This year’s celebration was a wonderful gathering of like-minded teams who’ve seen firsthand the benefits of employee-owned businesses. During the celebration, we

  • Acknowledged our wonderful board members, committee members and volunteers
  • Thanked our sponsors and funders
  • Talked about the benefits of employee ownership and heard some compelling stories
  • Dennis Quaintance of the O’Henry engaged us with his story of converting to an ESOP
  • Jim Pullen told us about The Link Group and their recent conversion

Welcome New EO Businesses!

During our celebration, we were also excited to celebrate a few of NC’s newest employee-owned companies. Many of those businesses are already seeing the positives of their conversion .

Encompassing over 1,900 new employee owners, those  companies included:

  • C. Herman Construction
  • The Link Group
  • Paytel
  • Mattachione Construction
  • SPC Mechanical
  • Baker Roofing

The future looks bright, as NCEOC is actively involved with 14 businesses that are considering or actively pursuing employee ownership. Our close partners report an additional 18 businesses in their pipelines!

October is Employee Ownership Month

NCEOC isn’t the only one busy at work celebrating employee-owned businesses. Our Governor announced that October is officially Employee-Ownership Month in North Carolina.

We’re thrilled the governor recognizes the critical role employee ownership has in North Carolina. Noting its importance in improving wage gaps, creating jobs, improving recruiting and retention, and keeping jobs rooted in the community, Governor Stein’s office celebrates employee ownership!
